The Horrors of Waking

I hate when I am awoken form a blissful sleep and quasi-disturbing dreams by some unknown force. "Unknown force" being a euphemism for that nasty habit we have of waking up at the same time just out of sheer habit. I stare at the ceiling for a while convincing myself that "Yes, I DO want to work today! I need to work today. Then I realize that I'm really NOT tired anymore and I am having this conversation with myself for the same reason I presumably woke up - habit. In fact, wanting to go back to sleep for another couple hours just sounds stupid now - sometimes my brain does funny things, so I get up, go to the bathroom and do my normal morning routine. I do my morning stretches be four taking my shower, Shower = good. Soap. Shampoo. Conditioner (long hair, don't you know?). Soak. Soak some more. Somewhere in the back of my mind "time" starts to scratch. Have I been in the shower too long? Can't really check the phone since it's out of sight. Soaking feels good... that same lethargy that hit during my stretches comes back, I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome amongst other things (such as fibromialga, chronic pain, back issues, migraines) and yes I take vitamins and stuff for it but none the less I have good days and bad days with it. Med's and vitamins help, among other things but it's not a cure all. Where had that energy I had upon waking gone? Finally I climb from the steam, dry my hair (as other long-hairs know, this isn't the most basic of tasks), finish shaving and reach for the phone. "I need some music." is the lazy thought I have. Aha! More time to waste in the morning. :-) After all, I've wasted a LOT of time this morning with all the stalling in bed, the long soak, the goofing off looking at several albums (and listening to samples, of course!)... and I still had to get dressed, find/eat ~something~ for breakfast, and get my butt to the computer, I work from home. That may sound like a blessing but sometimes it's a curse to, not that I am complaining cause I would not change it for the world! Just saying... I am strangely tired for feeling, well, this ~awake~. I take my med's/vitamins and head to my office room. Waiting for my med's for my chronic fatigue to set in, wish they would hurry up, Finally started getting some decent sleep this week! It's about time, I was turning into a zombie! blargh! So that was my morning, I am so not a morning person!

My dream

The main thing I remember from dreaming last night - well, I say "last night" but it was really from around 6AM to 3PM - is I was sneaking around a hospital for some important reason, I had some sort of mission to accomplish. Suddenly I was caught by a member of hospital staff, but I bluffed my way out of it by claiming to be one of the catering staff. The person who'd caught me believed my story, and directed me to the hospital's catering hall. (Did I mention the hospital had a catering hall? It did.) The rest of the dream was me cleaning up tables, waiting for my chance to sneak back into the rest of the hospital and finish whatever I was there to do.

Somewhere in the middle of everything I remember seeing a (real life) old friend of mine, with whom I had fallen out of touch. It was really nice to see him again. We got back in contact and hung out with some old freinds.

Relaxing

Just had a nice long relaxing bubble bath and listen to some relaxing music... Man it makes all the drama and crazy life stuff float away!!!!!!! If only I had a Kit Kat to eat while in the bath..... that would be amazing!!

Baby sleeping behind t.v. (pic) ~ Maybe TV really IS raising our children! Veera sent us this photo all the way from Finland. Her oldest son, Tuukka, found a new place to take a nap! Well...ummm, it is a cute pic. It is. ..... However, that is a very dangerous place for a baby to be. I know for a fact, that television is heavy...extremely heavy. So many things could just go wrong. The parent should not allow that to happen again!

Holly Brook, 24, the female vocalist from the 2006 Fort Minor hit "Where'd You Go," has released a new seven-track EP entitled O'Dark: Thirty. This is a major accomplishment for the young chanteuse, who has been dealing with the rough ups-and-downs of major record labels for the last few years. Her first album "Like Blood, Like Honey" was an amazing acoustically-driven ride through some much deeper issues than one would expect from a 20-year old (no mixing up Romeo & Juliet and The Scarlett Letter here!). This new EP, released on Bandcamp and produced by 90s hitmaker turned Broadway-musical writer Duncan Sheik (with whom Brook starred in his newest musical Whisper House earlier this year), is a bit more pop-tinged than its predecessor, the first track "It's Raining Again" especially being an interesting blend of harp strings and a drum machine, creating the effect of falling raindrops. Brook's lovely, breathy voice is a perfect mach for her songwriting. "Haunted," a track that was briefly released three years ago (though at the time much less produced), is a melodically simple song made complicated by its profound lyrics as well as its performers vocal arpeggios. The hard rock-tinged "Ordinary Tune" is probably Brook's farthest departure from the sound of her first album, an almost-gothic love song with a pervading ocean metaphor.

Brook's other project is the band Deep Deep Sleep with the brother David and Adam Iscove; together they will also be releasing a seven-track EP this summer, which is now being mixed, according to their Facebook page. Their first music video "Erase You" was released earlier this week.

Rude people! Grrrr

I can't not stand rude people as a rule I have a huge pet peeve with rude people! One of the few that I have, I was eating lunch with my friend Leslie today and our waitress was waiting on some other tables, amongst ours and she was serving someone and this guy and his family that was right next to the table that she was serving kept rudely yelling out for her, saying hey, hey hey and he proceeds to get louder and louder about it. He could CLEARLY see she was helping someone at the moment and instead of just being patient while she finished up he was rudely interrupting because he wanted a refill RIGHT NOW! At that very moment, and he had not had any bad service form her, she was very nice and took good care of all of us, it was just that he wanted instant gratification! I was so annoyed! I was like, "you are not the king of England and even if u were, u are not the exception to the rule." People just have such a lack of manners and love, it's getting worse! As the bible said it would! I so just wanted to go over there and give a lesson on kindness! But I contained myself.
